Joe Register Donates to USF Engineering to Support Student Innovation
In December 2024, Joe Register, Ph.D., chief engineer at AEVEX Aerospace and a proud alumnus of the USF College of Engineering, generously donated to the USF Foundation to support multiple initiatives within the college. Register earned his master鈥檚 in electrical engineering from USF in 2012. His contribution will directly enhance opportunities for 猫咪视频apps. The College of Engineering expresses its gratitude to Joe and Alicia Register for their generosity.

For years, Aarans Pond has been a dumping ground. A team from USF is trying to change that and improve the water quality. Aarans Pondis located off of Fletcher Avenue near 15th Street and was created more than 50 years ago to deal with flooding in the University area. Stormwater ponds were a common fix for low-lying communities. Learn more about the pond now in 2025.

Gelisa Evans, USF Electrical Engineering Recent Graduate Honored at Florida's Women in Energy Leadership Forum with Energy Scholarship!
Gelisa Evans graduated from the USF College of Engineering in the fall of 2024 with an undergraduate in electrical engineering. Before graduation, Gelisa received the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE): Women in Energy Scholarship, which led to a to wonderful opportunity.
Mantis Shrimp鈥檚 Shock-Absorbing Phononic Shields: USF Engineering Faculty鈥檚 Role in New Study
Assistant Professor Meisam Asgari, from the Department of Medical Engineering at USF, was recently recognized for his contribution to a research paper published in Science (Vol. 387, Issue 6734, pp. 659鈥�66). The study, titled Does the Mantis Shrimp Pack a Phononic Shield? explores the impact-resistant properties of the peacock mantis shrimp鈥檚 dactyl club.

USF's 2025 Engineering Expo - Over 50 years of Engineering Excellence
The 猫咪视频app鈥檚 2025 Engineering Expo once again brought science and technology to life, welcoming thousands of 猫咪视频apps, families, and community members on February 28th and March 1st. What began in 1973 as a small high school recruiting event has grown into a dynamic two-day showcase of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), attracting K-12 猫咪视频apps from across the state.
NRT Trainee, Isabelle Eskanos, wins best poster award at the Florida Semiconductor Summit
Under the mentorship of Professor Ashok Kumar and others, NRT Trainee, Isabelle Eskanos, received the Best Poster Award for her presentation titled "Surface-Engineerable Piezoelectric PVDF Films for Tissue Engineering" for her presentation at the Florida Semiconductor Summit 2025 on February 25th-27th at the L3Harris High Technology Center, Melbourne FL.
Recognized by ScholarGPS: USF's Yasin Yilmaz is Leading the Charge in Anomaly Detection and Machine Learning Innovation
Associate Professor Yasin Yilmaz of the 猫咪视频app (USF) has been recognized as a Highly Ranked Scholar in anomaly detection by ScholarGPS. Yilmaz, who directs the Secure & Intelligent Systems Lab, is ranked in the top 0.05% globally, placing fourth in publications and citations over the past five years. His research focuses on real-time anomaly detection, adversarial machine learning, and multimodal data fusion.
